Meet Dr. Shana O'Donnell, DVM

Dr. Shana O'Donnell DVM

A proud native of eastern Washington, Dr. O'Donnell embarked on her journey in veterinary care, earning her bachelor's degree in Animal Science with highest honors from Washington State University in 2006. Her passion for the field led her to achieve her DVM degree from the same institution in 2010.

After completing her academic endeavors, Dr. O'Donnell ventured to Denver, Colorado, where she honed her skills through a comprehensive, year-long rotating internship in medicine, surgery, and emergency at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital. Following this invaluable experience, she furthered her expertise in surgical procedures during a year-long surgical internship at the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center in Dallas, Texas. Armed with advanced training and a commitment to excellence, Dr. O'Donnell returned to Colorado to pursue her keen interest in emergency medicine.

In 2013, she became a valued member of the VCA family at VCA Veterinary Specialists of Northern Colorado, contributing her expertise to the Emergency Department. Subsequently, in 2015, she transitioned to the Emergency Department at VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospital. After eight fulfilling years at Alameda East, Dr. O'Donnell recently transitioned to VCA Animal Emergency Critical Care in Leesburg, VA, where she continues to provide exceptional care to animals in need.

Beyond her dedication to veterinary medicine, Dr. O'Donnell finds joy in exploring the outdoors, fly fishing and attending concerts with her husband. As well as cherished moments at home with their three Maine Coons; Boris, Arlo and Dublin.
